Why Fascia Matters
Are you curious to know more about the fascia of your body? Ever wonder what it is made of, where you can find it, when it becomes injured or strained, and why Certified Rolfers are so darn interested in getting their hands on it and manipulating it?
An east coast colleague of mine and self-described fascial nerd, Brooke Thomas, has written a sweet little primer on fascia titled Why Fascia Matters. This book is intended for a wide audience and in it Brooke distills down into a very digestible format findings from some of the most recent scientific research on fascia.
You can download it for free in ebook format simply by clicking on the image of the book at the bottom of this page.
Another colleague of mine, Dr. Robert Schleip, who is a member of the Fascia Research Group at Ulm University in Germany, has co-authored a more in-depth, scientific book on fascia titled Fascia: The Tensional Network of the Human Body. Here is a great little video of Dr. Schleip at a playground demonstrating the theory of tensegrity as it pertains to fascia and fascial fitness. Doesn’t it look like fun?
